Emergency Room Malpractice
The emergency room of almost any hospital has become an area where medical errors are common and often overlooked. Because of the increasing load of patients and the need to prioritize or “triage” patients by order of medical urgency, many things can go wrong in any emergency room. However, as long as the patient eventually receives the proper care, which usually involves admission to the hospital for further testing and treatment, the errors in the emergency room are of little consequence. However, when the patient is improperly discharged from the emergency room and told that there is nothing wrong, or when a diagnosis of a significant problem is missed or overlooked, the initial medical errors in the emergency room can have significant consequences.
